When my husband and I first got married, we lived in a small town north of Pittsburgh, PA. It was there that I found myself stepping into a new way of thinking I might not have otherwise. In this small town it was very normal to know every face, to shop at the local Salvation Army, to eat food from your own land, and to become an educated consumer.
Our time there was the beginning of a personal journey. We began to ask hard questions about our own lifestyle. This led us to buy organic food for the first time, which in turn led to further questions about the toxicity of other products we were using on a daily basis – cleaners, cookware, utensils, tupperware, and so on. Perhaps the most radical change occurred with the use of our typical personal care products.
Did you know that the industry of personal care products and cosmetics in the U.S. is virtually unregulated by the FDA? What we buy is not guaranteed to be safe. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. There has not been one single ingredient banned or restricted in this industry (in the U.S.) since 1938. Our country bans/restricts 30 ingredients. The E.U. bans/restricts nearly 1,400.
Beautycounter bans more than 1,500 ingredients. I joined this company because they are on the cutting edge of safer beauty. Their mission, values, and integrity are quite impressive.
My goals reach beyond sales and beauty. I am joining their mission to educate others and help make changes on a national level for the health and safety of future generations. I believe in pursuing a safer, more natural lifestyle…will you join me?
